From the early, medieval compositions of composer, writer, scientist Hildegard of Bingen, to the extraordinary works of 2017’s all female Pulitzer prize finalists, Ashley Fure, Kate Super, and winner Du Yun, to 2019’s Tony Award’s Best Musical Hadestown by Anaïs Mitchell, to 2021’s Pulitzer prize winner, Tania León’s piece Stride, and to the Tony Award’s 2023 Best Musical Kimberly Akimbo composed by Jeanine Tesori, women’s contributions to music have resonated throughout history.  The MTAC Conejo Valley’s 7th Annual Women Composers Festival celebrates the contributions of women composers.
