The Sheryl Toney Memorial Music Fund
In honor of Sheryl Toney (September 14, 1955 – August 1, 2024), and her dedication to enriching the lives of the people she touched through her musical gifts, Lillian Reichert, Sheryl’s twin sister, and Sheryl’s family have established through the MTAC Conejo Valley Branch, the Sheryl Toney Memorial Music Fund.
Your support of the Sheryl Toney Memorial Music Fund will aid the MTAC Conejo Valley Branch and its dedicated teachers, such as Sheryl Toney, in the Branch’s mission of enhancing the music education of its members’ students. The many programs offered through the MTAC Conejo Valley help young musicians in obtaining their highest musical potential. Your contribution to the Sheryl Toney Memorial Music Fund will continue the ongoing success of these programs which have contributed to the musical achievements of the Branch’s students at colleges and universities, international music competitions, in professional orchestras, and music ministries.
Sheryl’s presence in her piano students’ lives, in our lives, in our organization, will be missed. The MTAC Conejo Valley is honored to be partners with Sheryl Toney’s family in continuing Sheryl’s legacy of advancing music education in the Conejo Valley area and beyond.

Sheryl’s study of piano began at age 7 with Margaret Power, Pat Robinson, and former concert pianist Edith Knox (whose teacher studied with Rachmaninoff). She began teaching private lessons in 1970 and graduated from South High School in Torrance, CA, in 1973.
After winning a concerto competition in 1976, Sheryl gave a moving performance of Saint-Saens’ Piano Concerto #2 with the Peninsula Symphony from Palos Verdes in Redondo Beach, CA. She won “Artist of the Future” and graduated UCLA in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theory & Composition. In 1997, Sheryl accompanied performing artist Whitney Crist’s recital of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto #3, Opus 30. Over the years, she created many compositions and arrangements, played organ or keyboard at her church, and sometimes led the worship team.
